I love the comments on youtube. Somebody threatened to sell all their Canon gear and never buy from them again if they didn't firmware their "One month old" 5DII. A month ago, the rumors were flying around everywhere for the 7D, and doesn't Canon usually release something every September? And if the camera doesn't do what you want it to, why buy it?

It may have been sarcasm.... but you never really know, with the average intelligence level on YouTube (and "teh interwebs" in general) being what it is.... :p

Next thing you know there will be a class action lawsuit against Canon..

I mean, How DARE technology progress!

How dare my EOS-30D have twice the resolution, less noise and substantially better battery life than the EOS-1D!

So, we are just a few hours away from the (supposed) official announcement, right? How many of us are pulling an all-nighter? Or skipping work? Or will be at work not doing work, browsing and posting here instead? (I guess the same goes for students)

Last year, hours before the 5D MkII unveiling, the various 5DII threads were becoming more like social threads, as we were getting bored speculating and debating as the countdown was winding down. It's starting to look the same way now. Let's enjoy.

Indeed I used my camera today and the AF totally didn't work right since I knew the 7D has a better one, and by all means I was totally pissed 8fps wasn't happening.

I'd love to! But the announcement will be at 4AM (my time) and I have to wake up at 6AM... so it is not possible for me.

Stay up until 12 a.m. Eastern Time. If the info isn't up by then, then it probably won't be up tonight.

You could always call in sick, or skip class, whichever it is?

"Hello boss... ::cough, cough:: I'm not feeling very well this morning... ::sneeze, sneeze:: yeah, I think it's 7D fever or something like that... ::cough, sneeze:: yes, it's a real disease, I get it every year around the same time... ::sneeze, cough:: so I think I'm gonna stay home today, okay? Bye!"

I'm on vacation for the next week and a half so I've got my coffee at my side and the Canon site on my second monitor just waiting ;)

To begin the social aspect we'll start with:

What will you do with 8fps?

For me I'll be shooting lots of cars, birds, wildlife and sports. Maybe even start my own highspeed macro photography tracking bees :p
