Hi, I captured these two row boats tied to the dock the other evening and used two different focusing points tell me which one you like better Thanks,

Depends what the subject is? Both are good if the item in focus is what the subject is.

If your subject was "boats" then #1 fails because the subject is in fact, the (focused) purple flower.
If your subject was the flower then the background is too busy/distracting.
If your subject was "boats in #2, it succeeds because they are in focus and the foreground flower and grass does not interfere nor distract.
Expanding what TheLaird said I guess.

To answer your original question (which one I like) without getting off topic and focusing on the title (which you didn't ask about so it's not relevant) I like # 1 better.

I do not agree with Spike44. To each his own though. I don't think the background is not too busy or distracting. I feel the background is soft enough that it does not take away from the flower. What a great background by the way! Backgrounds can be interesting without being busy.

#2 is great as well. It would be interesting to see both pictures in the same frame exactly how you have them.

i like #1 better it needs another name because the subject is the flower in that shot.

I like that #1; #2 seems to be what I would probably focus on. #1 is outside the box and really creative.
