Best portrait lens for 5D under $500

I am thinking 50 1.4? or maybe 85 1.8?

What do you guys (and gals) think? Im looking for the closest bokeh to the 85L

We have the 85mm f/1.8 (on a crop) and absolutely love it. So sharp. Great bokeh. I think it also has a better reputation for autofocus than the 50mm f/1.4.

100mm f/2?

1. Canon or Sigma 50mm f/1.4
2. Canon 85mm f/1.8
3. Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8

Just a few options off of the top of my head. I like the 85mm focal length (approx. 50mm on my 40D) so I would probably go with the 85 for strictly portraits. The Tamron lens is a great "bang for your buck" zoom as well. The fifties are both good if you get a decent copy. It really depends on what focal lengths you like and if you need the versatility of a zoom.

Do you like tighter portraits or more full body stuff?

Tigher portraits: 100mm f2, 135 f2.8 SF, or any of the 90-105mm f2.8 macros from any maker.

full/half body: 50mm 1.4 or 85mm 1.8
