CyberSync and 580EX II

For those of you using this combo which is better...

While there is a certain elegance to that construction, each connection you add between the devices is a failure point. Plus the cybersync sitting out on that little horzontal plug seems like trouble to me.

I am the very least though only want a 3.5 mm to 3.5mm. I can't belive it is this hard and costly to do something so simple.

but the cord and a little velcro is all thats needed. Your proposed device is reinventing the mousetrap.

Hey, it's photography! It's supposed to be expensive.

I would not want my receiver supported by the connection jack. Use the Cybersync supplied cable and hang the receiver off the stand.

I would avoid that configuration you're showing on that Flickr page at all cost. It's just a bad idea all the way around.

Can you imagine the damage that setup could do when the lightstand takes a tumble? And eventually they do....

Yeah, it's a recipe for disaster. Plugs, jacks and connections are subject to failure without a fall but that setup will fail form normal use. I guarantee that the weight and stress places on the hardware is going to kill it.

It's just asking for trouble when there are plenty of alternatives that are simple and work well.

pc port is the most reliable as fire as firing consistantly. i have both the hot shot and the pc port which i recently got and use exclusively now. sometimes the connection on the hotshoe plugs get loose or tweaked causing a bad connection. just from my experiences thus far

#1 The screwlock attachment gives a very secure connection. Only way to go. And give Lon the business. You won't be sorry.
