hey.

Let say i have a folder of images from a wedding, one stored on my main computer and another on my Mac Laptop.

I want to be able to edit the photos in lightroom on the laptop, then somehow sync the edits back over to my Main computer.

How would i go about doing this?

Thank you

I'm not sure about this because I don't use a Mac, but you should be able to share most processing by using the xmp metadata files. In the Library module, with the files selected, choose Metadata/Save Metadata to File, and it creates a "sidecar file" alongside of the image file. Once you move the files to the other machine and import them, execute the Metadata/Read Metadata from File to "get" the edits.

What this won't do is copy all of the library info, such as tags. To share that between two computers, you would have to actually move the library files to the other box. I don't believe the PC and the Mac could do that but I could be wrong. To share between two PCs or two Macs, by the way, you need to make sure that you shut down the first copy of Lightroom, because LR puts a "lock" on the library when it's open. Just sayin'.

Yes, use XMP. With LR2, you can also host the catalog on the mac for the pc to edit. Won't work the other way around though, due to OSX's poor design, you can't use hosted catalogs in LR2 (at least not 2.2 last I tried).
Or you can just use XMP, leave the main computer on all the time (and host files there), and if you're off network, use vpn. That gets slow and complicated though.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
