ha... i was waiting to see your pics. just to put in perspective how amateur-ish mine look. great shots!

i tried pulling off a similar shot through the trees (no 6) but couldn't get the timing right.

It's not too much different that a regular (albeit slow) pan. But, you've got to really drop the shutter to make thin foliage "thinner." Find me next year and I'll hook you up. It's a morning shot, so typically I'll do it during a morning practice. It's too far for the morning warm-up though... so practice it is.

does anyone else see a crazy amount of banding in #1 and also some in #3?

jpeg quality issue or is my monitor or video card flaking out...?

ah ha! it was my machine! local color depth was screwed up by an 8-bit low color VNC session to another PC.

i knew somthing was amiss, because as we all know Mr. JT is of the top crust of motoTog's anywhere! and these shots are most excellent - as always great shots sir!

BTW enjoy following you JT via Twitter on my new BlackBerry - and yes 4:30AM is stupidCrazyEarly for a plane ride!!!  :p
