Full 2.8 1/3200 ISO100 The focus point was actually on the very right in the middle. So the crop is not entirely accurate on this one.

Did you take some before-fix pictures to compare with your after-fix pictures? I'd like to see how unsharp it was before. Thanks,

I just bought this lens a month ago and I have already sent it in to Canon. It should be back Wednesday and I shoot a wedding on Saturday. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Sunapollo,
Yeah I have pictures from before. They suck. but I will get some psoted ;)

Maureen, I wish you the best of luck. Did you ship to Irvine, or Jersey? Be sure to do a rigorous test before hand. Shoot wide open, on the wide end, and tele. Try subjects both close and far. I hope one time is enough for you. But you used a Tammy for a while though right? Still have it on hand incase your lens doesn't make it back?
good luck on the wedding!

I had mine sent to Canon twice. Came back sharp both ends but I've sold it since I've moved to primes. Lucky to whoever bought my lenses, they're all sharp :D.

I should have just bought "used" as it has already been "broken in"! LOL

Primes, I hear you! I'm REALLY considering. Faster, Sharper, lighter :)

Livin,

Take a pic of someones eyelash. About a year ago I had a bad copy of a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 (suprise, suprise) but anyhow I took pics of my dog wideopen. The pictures appeared very sharp. Took photos of a human face and I was sadly mistaken.

My copy is decent but when I compare it to my brother's copy I feel I need to ship mine back to Canon. My lens took a trip to Canon and they shipped it back "cleaned" telling me its perfect LOL....absolute joke.

Actually for lenses I'll be selectively buying used ones ONLY with warranty. Calibration could cost $180. I think you did the right thing buying a new one.

Besides better AF, the 24-70L has three things the Tamron 28-75 doesn't: red fringing, softer center wide open, and sharper corners.

You forgot one, the L has decent build... ;) Also, a properly functioning 24-70L (which is the majority of them) is not anything but seriously sharp.

Thanks. Yes, The Tammy still lives:) My niece is using it so i haven't seen it for while but it it is available. I have great lenses otherwise and I have shot many a wedding with just the 85/1.2 (My fave lens) but I really need a wide lens for some shots.

I tested the lens out for a month at every imaginable setting so hopefully Irvine will get it fixed in one try.:D

Maureen, what was the problem with your 24-70?
