That stinks. To my eyes, my lens, with the same settings, looks significantly sharper. Though still not stellar, mine is acceptable. Your's, not so much.

Mine was all over the place when I sent it in. It took a different micro adjustment for different FL's and subject distances. I told them what it did, and it came back working acceptable, with no micro adjustment. If it helps you at all, Newport News fixed mine.

Besides better AF, the 24-70L has three things the Tamron 28-75 doesn't: red fringing, softer center wide open, and sharper corners.

and it's weathersealed and has that critical 4mm at the wide end, both of which are big deals for me :D.

Just got my 24-70 back from Newport News. Its new, but didn't focus properly on either end, and I couldn't micro-adjust it out(would have sent it in anyways, I like all my lenses at 0 micro-adjust). Came back just under 2 weeks later, and appears fine. 24mm is a tad soft at f/2.8, but doesn't appear to be missing focus. I've had luck at Jersey with other lens adjustments(except my 50L).

Thread got me curious, so I went out and took a couple snaps in the back yard. Lightroom defaults so they need sharpening, full frame + 100% The bee moved in the 24mm shot, so look at the flower.

Its not my sharpest lens, wide open, but I'm happy with it.

those are very good John. the light was excellent and that's something i don't see in 75% of the test shots that guys post.
