Ok, so, many know that Missus Skygod HATES having her picture taken.
But today, while viewing an old "Carry On" movie from the 1960s, I found a link to some old promo shots of the female stars, such as Valerie Leon and thought to myself, high(ish) contrast, B&W could work for my wife, reason being, she's hard to pose, is not as young as she'd like to be(!) and, IMO, in the right setting with the right clothes, could have a real "classic" look.
So, this is a first attempt to change a bland colour shot using various settings, (now saved as a preset in LightRoom) to get some kind of correct skin-tone before I try to get some real photos of her.
Thoughts greatly appreciated on the tonality and finish - NOT on the shot composition please, as it was just a snap from our holidays which I'm going to bin.

Hi Simon - Pretty good overall. Your 50 at f/1.6 has pretty thin DOF causing some OOF at the near end, but great bokeh at the far end. Tonality I think is good. I'd look for more contrast unless you are going for that softer look. ISO at 100 and shutter spped of 1/1250 - must have been really bright eh?
Cheers,
John

Thanks for the comment John, and exactly what I was after....
Yes, the DoF is very thin - which is one of the reasons the actual pic is heading for the bin - but it was the tone I was really concerned with, as it's difficult to judge when you know your subject so well.
Believe it or not, the contrast was slammed almost up to the wall in LightRoom but I think you're right - even more would be nearer to the style I think both I (and perhaps even Missus Skygod?!) would like.

The next stage will be to work on some location shots - I'm aiming for "old Japan" in B&W and maybe some sepia-tone using this preset, boosted a little more, to re-create some 1960s concept shots....

Will post if I can convince my "muse" to go with it!!!
;)
