Shot these handheld with a G9, 3exp each + - 2 stops. Location is Lake Travis near Austin TX which is close to 40' low now as this area is in the worst drought since 1956. Two counties away, they are in the worst drought ever since records have been kept in the late 1800's. On the plus side, I took a little hike and recovered 3 nice boat anchors from the rocks.

Normal full water level is right up behind the two telephone poles

This cove is completely dry now

You must cross almost a mile of lakebed to reach the water from this boatramp

The land in the middle is normally covered by about 15-20feet of water at normal lake levels

What's odd is storm clouds over a water barren lake ...

Great series, you sure need some water for that area of Texas.

Love the clouds and the blue sky!

Our lakes here in Colorado looked like that two years ago. Fortunatly we've had an unusually wet summer so all lakes and resavoirs are filled, for now...

El Nino started in the Pacific officially now, so we should be going into a 2-3 year wet period. The last cycle, the lake rose 18' in one weekend after a low pressure system stalled SW of us.

Those clouds are normal cumulus, not storm clouds. The day starts out with the sky clear and blue, and these clouds pop up every afternoon about 1-2pm.

Yikes, Here in AR, we have had some of the wettest weather on record, so I guess we have been getting your share.

makes my heart ache for you guys down there. my family is originally from san antonio. but, there may be a tiny bit of solace in the fact that NY state went through one 5+ years ago that repaired itself fairly quickly and the southeast was in a doozy, but recovered, last year. I remember shots just like this from Lake Lanier.

you need a wet winter and about 2 tropical systems to make landfall around padre island, and you should be good. mother nature is funny; she tends to balance things out....eventually.

my favorite west texas saying: How much rainfall y'all get out here in a year? Response: About 8 inches...............but, you should be here the day we get it.

A great series that points out how much central Texas needs rain!

I had lunch at a restaurant near the dam in January, it was low, but nothing like what you are showing here!

Nicely done!
