I have been using Aperture "lightly" for a while now and have yet to import all of my older images, but lately I have been thinking off switching from Aperture to LR.
Many of my friends, both PC and Mac users are using LR and it looks like more pros are using LR. That might not have anything to do with how good LR is compared to Aperture, but more because of the knowledge sharing and general info available.

I just want some recommendations, it looks like LR is heavily favored on POTN.
Have anybody else gone from Aperture to LR?

When I got my first Mac I started using iPhoto, starting finding the shortcomings, so I got Aperture. I spent some time with Aperture, moved over my entire catalog to Aperture, then I discovered LightRoom (LR 1 didn't catch my fancy, LR 2 did). I gave it a try and found LR overall more pleasing.

A few things I personally like about LR over Aperture:
- Everything, including the metadata, is stored in the file or file system. No proprietary database. You can actually find the files you're working on!
- interoperability with Photoshop is very good.
- History list of changes with the ability to go back steps (kinda like Photoshop). Aperture lets you toggle on/off groups of changes, but you can't step backwards. To each their own on this one.
- Pretty decent printing engine - seems similar to Photoshop's engine.

To be fair, there are some good reasons to use Aperture:
- Integrated with Mac OS X, media browsers, other Library scouring tools.
- Keywords (and other metadata) are much easier to enter, compared to LR.
- Clean & Intuitive interface.

There's my two cents.

One of the reasons I went with Aperture is that I heard the organizing features are better. More in-depth and suitable with the library grows very large and unruly.
I also like the books, you can get from Apple, but it doesn't seem like a big seal anymore, since there's Blurb and others.

I really like all the presets people are developing for LR, but I'm more likely to use Nik. Still it's great to see and the knowledge being shared.

I'm a Photoshop designer, so many of the short cuts are probably the same.

I'll test LR out some more before I make my decision.
