Problems reading my card- HELP!

We just got back from a vacation in Hawaii where we took over 200 pictures on our Powershot G2. We have a card reader to import them into the pc, which we've been using with no problems til now. This time, when I loaded the card and tried to read it from the pc, nothing happened, and it basically crashed my file explorer. We plugged it into my husbands pc and the same thing happened. Then, we put the card back into the camera and now it says "no image" (it's also acting like there's no card in there- like it can't see the card)
Before we plugged the card into the reader, the photos looked fine on the camera, we'd been flipping through them with no problem.
Now we can't read the card from the camera OR the card reader.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

CJ

I'd start with the website of the manufacturer of the memory card. Some of the manufacturers offer recovery software. If such software isn't there then maybe give them a call and see what they might offer. Don't use another brand recovery software; i. e. Sandisk software on an Lexar card. You might make things worse.

Lastly there are some packages available to do recovery but they cost around $30. If you get to that point do a web search on "digital picture recovery memory card". Remove the quotation marks or it looks for the exact phrase.

CJ, there have been a number of posts on this topic, some reporting success, and others, regrettable, failure.
Have a look at
https://photography-on-the.net …t=39544&highlight=recover
and
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=72265
which has links to recovery software.
http://www.mediarecover.com/ (external link) is the one I have tried.
http://www.lc-tech.com/PHOTORECOVERY.htm (external link) is another mentioned.

Keep the forum posted on how you get on. We can all learn from these situations.
Good luck.
