camera to laptop

newbe. How can you connect a camera with laptop so you can view what the camera sees on the laptop if you know what i mean? I have seen it done but the person in question could not speak english i have a canon 40d

If you have an AV hook up on the laptop you could do it that way.

Also, could use your TV.

The software that came with your camera will allow you to do it using the normal USB connection cable.

thanks for the reply? i have tried with the canon software that came with the camera eos utility and went into control camera settings/remote shooting but could not get no where i must be doing something wrong

Do you have the cable attached and the camera turned on?
