Well I decided to go with the flash and a Sto-fen omni-bounce for indoor occasions. Next purchase will probably be the 100mm macro early next year, and a tripod sometime thereafter. In the meantime, my 5MDH will be packed full.

Thanks for your feedback!

Even though you've already decided on what to do with the money you've already got now, I do want to give you some advice on a tripod head, since you mentioned that you want a better one.

My advice to you would be to skip the Bogen Manfrotto ballhead and get something better like a Kirk, Acratech, Really Right Stuff, or Markins that uses the Arca-Swiss compatible plates. Since you mentioned wanting to get a L100-400 someday, you may as well buy your tripod head with that goal in mind and know that once you do get it, your tripod/head setup will be sufficient to support it properly. My first ballhead was a BM486RC2 and even with a 3+ lb load on it, it had a tendency to droop slightly no matter how much I'd tighten it when positioned at certain angles. I got so frustrated with the droop that I got rid of it and got a gently used Kirk BH-3 ballhead on Fleabay for less than $200. Another advantage with the Acra-Swiss compatible plates is that the plates for both camera and lens are custom so once you tighten a plate onto a camera or lens collar, it won't twist around on you while you're using it on the tripod head.

Just some food for thought...
Heather :)
