"Use testfir.fir to make your 400d bootable from CF and then make your CF card bootable using cardtricks. (choose CF boot sector option) Copy the hack file (autorun.bin) into the CF."

Guys, help, I don't get it. Maybe it is because my english isn't that good but I did it this way:
I copied the 2 files (testfir.fir & autoexec.bin) to my CF, than put the CF card in the camera. And it didn't work.. What am I doing wrong? (firware is already 1.1.1)

Did you follow the other 18 steps in the instructions as well?

Its not just those 2 things you need to do.

I know, the other steps I follow, but when he says:

4. insert CF, and then run firmware update again using testfir.fir the screen will go blank. wait 5 minutes, turn off, take battery out and back in.

what does that mean? Because when I go to "firmware version xxx" he says he won't do it. (I've already 1.1.1)

He wants you to run the firmware update again but this time using the testfir.fir that you copied to the CF card.

Good one.

Maybe we can get the OP (or a mod now that its a sticky) to replace the original instructions on POST #1 with your page so we can send everyone back there when they ask.

It was worth the effort, Sneakerhead. Be sure to review my posting a little up. I love it and will not "go back", ha. My only concern is,... what if I fill up one of my "Hacked" CF card... what next? I have 2 non-modded cf cards.

Hey, This brings up a question... What's the best way to prepare a second cf card? (just copy the files over to the next card?)

I just did the same process to all of my cards so they all have it.

My concern is that I also have a 30D camera... putting this in that -what would happen? That's why I only have one modded card (of 3) just so I don't mix..

I have 2 hacked cards in my Xti and two non-hacked in my 5D.

They're interchangeable between both cameras I just have to remember never to format the hacked cards - no matter which camera their in.

Great! I always dreamed of having spot metering. What's the use of the AF's different patterns?
