Latest version is out - Auto-ISO back in

•AutoISO.
•Intermediate ISOs reworked: 1/8 EV resolution, false ISO-3200 removed.
•Translations saved in a separate INI file (please, see the translators' guide if you are willing to collaborate).
•All three possible file formats (JPEG, RAW, RAW+JPEG) available in AUTO modes.
•New shortcut: color temperature.
•Rolling menus.
•Debug on power-on and log file mode selection.

Can i now connect my camera with the CF card inside and upload images to my pc or do i still need to use a card reader?

This hack doesn't stop you from connecting your camera to a PC with a USB cable and downloading your images that way. I don't believe it ever has. With the latest version, I just connected my 400D to my PC and downloaded the images just to prove it before I responded to your quote.

However, I never download my images that way, I always use a card reader. Whether your PC supports it or not depends on many things, OS, drivers, etc etc.

EDIT - On thinking back, there may have been a previous version (back before it became 400plus) that caused problems if you had a large number of files on the CF card and tried to download them. I haven't tested that - I only had 5 images on my card when I tested it just now.

Does the hack make my camera consume more battery than normal?

That depends on what functionality you use. Having your camera run scripts in the hack will obviously take more juice from your batteries than just taking manual pictures.

I don't use any scripts - just the spotmeter and added ISO and my batteries last just as long as they used to before I used the hack.

All the CHDK hacks are built for each specific brand of cameras and will only work with that specific brand. This one is for the 400D only.

Maybe someone else that fills up the card could tell us whether they are experiencing any lockup when transferring them. I'm not near my camera for a couple of days.

i could try it later myself. However, how di install the latets hack? simply move the hack file in my CF card to replace the old one or do i have to reformat it again?

If you have a CF card that has the hack on it (and is working) just replace the autoexec.bin with the new one.

Did you download the Feature Build - not the nightly build?
