ai, ai, ai... i am missing something! :S

I have updated the firmware. Then i have copied the testfir.fir to my card and updated the camera (waited 3 or 4 minutes and the turned the camera of, took out the battery and then put it back in).
Turned the camera on and formatted the card.
Then open (on a mac) the MacBoot. It finds my card and clicked "prepared". It makes it's thing and says that the card is prepared.
I then downloaded the newest AUTOEXEC.BIN and copied it to the root of the card.
(there, in the root, there was also folder for the pictures called DCIM and a file called "script.req").
Was this the right place to put the .bin file?

But then when i put the card in the camera nothing. no "blue light" and no menu... nothing out of normal! (except for the red "card reading" light that blinks in a different way that before having this files inside)

Anyone has an idea of what i am doing wrong? :/

BIN file needs to go in the ROOT directory - Not in any folder. So you did it right.

Not sure about that script.req file. Sounds like something got interrupted in the middle of running a script.

You might want to format that card and start again.

Are you following these http://code.google.com …/FirmwareHackInstallation (external link)
installation instructions?

yes, i followed the instructions from there.
The script.req file is put there in the card's root by the MacBoot software

Well, i have tried the whole thing already a couple of times and i am really not sure what io am doing wrong. Probably is something really silly and small that i am missing, but if someone could help me out that would be amazing!!!

hey, i slept over it and i think maybe a friend from a dream came to wisper in my ear... ;)

Now it works!!!! =)

The problem was that i understood the in step 1 from the instruction, in i would use the MacBoot the card would be ready!
Actually, what it makes is that it added the script file in the root of the card, but the file was missing the code.
I manually copied the code from the instructions and now it works!!!
Nice!
=)

Great. Not being a MAC user I was not able to help or understand that script.

Glad you could get it fixed and for posting the fix here for other MAC users.

i was even thinking that maybe i should write something there in the help page. Is it really a wiki (that everyone contributes?).
But first i would need to know if this is a general problem with MacBoot or if it is just something that happened to me...

You could go to the forum and ask there is anyone else has a probelm with the MAC instructions. You'd have to register and login.

Hi

I'm new here and have my first question:

I've installed the 20110904-0 Build from google code. Everything works fine so far, but I can only set ISO 3000 as maximum. Is that correct since I've read a lot about ISO 3200.

The second question concerns bracketing. Where or how can I set a series of 9 pictures? In Menu I can only set the steps, but nothing else. Help would be great.

And just for my information. When entered the factory menu, the Cam is not recognized by PC, Mac or iPad 2 using the camera connection kit. Also when I do SW_Check, I get informations like "Unit 31 failed". Should I be scared?

When Factory Menu is hidden, all works fine. Thanks for your help... :)

This is correct. The latest build goes to 3000, but the difference between 3000 and 3200 is neither here nor there.

Canon 400D, Canon 17-85 IS USM, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Sigma 100-300 F/4 DG EX, Sigma 150mm F2.8 MACRO EX, Jessops Extention Tubes, Jessops X2 Tele.

Question 2 - In the menu it sets the number of shots plus the increments. Supposed to be able to extend the range from -6 to +6 EV.
However, I have to say I was experimenting with it yesterday and couldn't get it to take more than 3 shots - not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if theres a bug.

Unless your a software hacker I'd stay out of the factory menu. Not sure what you'd need to be in there for.

Question - how can I tell what build I'm using?

I installed this about 5 months ago - it is excellent to have spot metering and higher ISOs.

I just read that there is some sort of bracketing feature, and am not sure of whether or not I have it, or will need to do some upgrade?

Later versions also have the build number along with the shutter count in the INFO display.

If you have a version before that the only way you can tell is with the name of the zip file you downloaded.

Upgrading is easy, just copy the new autoexec.bin over top of the old one.

Anyone following this 400Plus software for the XtI the latest version is uploaded now.

http://code.google.com …eatured+Type%3DExecutable (external link)

The menus have been drastically changed - much more user friendly now. But be careful - they are now multiple layer menus that use the front "wheel" to access them.

Read the the navigation instructions carefully.
