I love the fact that Robin Williams agreed to come and hold up the Detour sign. It's refreshing to see he hasn't been spoiled by his fame.

Thanks guys.

Robin Williams? You might be onto something there! I don't know what it is but for some reason this guy was just perfect holding up that sign. He came running up to me. Stopped, held up the sign and grinned at me. So I held up my camera and shot him at point blank range! I actually really like this shot. Probably the best shot of the entire weekend. He had so much expression in his face... Warm, silly and fun all at the same time.

Jon.

The lighting in #2 is very nice.

My wife tries to bribe me with $50 in beer to go, but...maybe with some gear, and good B&W in the Mamiya TLR...

I've never found a better environment to get killer candid shots. Ren fairs are the best. There's no shortage of people ready to pose or ham it up for you either. ;)

Thanks Mitar.

Look at this shot. It's not a great shot but look at the horses. See how they are leaning inward? Look at the blue/white lance. See it starting to flex? This shot was taken just as the lance started to strike the other rider. It's beginning to bow just a little bit... I don't care if these guys are putting on staged shows. They still beat the snot out of each other. And I've seen a few of these guys get seriously hurt. Dragged behind a horse, faces cut open by corners of objects and a whole list of other things. This is a painful job!
