Well, not MY first newborn, my first time actually being serious about photographing one. Did this for a neighbor. I don't think I could actually charge for something like this (yet...fingers crossed!), but it is nice to make a friend happy. :) CC very much welcome as one more neighbor and a great friend are going to have these babes any minute...

#1, #...oh heck...I think they are all fantastic! :D

I'm hoping I can pull off some pics that are just as good when my daughter arrives in Dec.

Love the first one. Two would have been much better without the diaper or a cover over it (in my opinion anyway). Great job for your first try.

love the first one. i think in the last one, the face is a bit too blurry imho.

also i think for all baby photos, babies should wear cloth diapers instead of disposable ones. makes the photo a bit more classy :)

A sincere thanks, everyone. I agree that the diaper should have either been off or cloth, though I don't think the mom will mind. I will definitely take that into consideration next time. :)

Thanks again for commenting!

Awesome shots. I just love the 1st and the 3rd. We recently had our baby boy (5 days back) and have been reading to get new ideas. I love your positioning of the baby. if you don't mind can you pls share the setup you used and the gear you are using.

Any tips would be greatly helpful. I have already been experimenting and would soon love to upload some pics for you guys to critique.

Thanks a bunch.

The set up was pretty easy, that blanket was thrown over a boppy and set in front of a sliding glass door on one side and a mirror (as a reflector) on the other. Just me and my xti with the kit lens - nothing fancy.

Thanks for the feedback, it is really appreciated! Congrats on your new baby boy and good luck with pictures!

1 is cute. I agree with the diaper needing to go. I also like the close up:)
