Need to finalize which one I am getting. I plan so far to go with the Quantum 2x2.

Anyone have suggestions or thoughts. Price is not the major factor. Will be used for Night football mainly withthe 580exII

Comments greatlyappreciated!

Matt, love the turbo 2x2, I don't use it for football. I use for triathlons, I can charge Friday night shoot Sat and Sun Tri and only be down two lights on the charge and recycle times are awesome. My only suggestion is to go to the Quantum support site and read up on the 580exII combo, this combo must be powered up in a certain order or else the 580exII won't use the quantum. I will try and find this advisory and post it. Just found the Link

Matt I have the Turbo SC and wish I would have bought the 2x2. As I'm getting more and more into doing flashed stuff I wish my SC had the connections for two flashes. Oh well another thing to put on my "now I'm done buying gear" list. The Quantums are very nice though. (should be for that price)

Just how fast are the recycle times with the 2 x 2?

I really appreciate the comments, makes me feel better about my choice.

I also am curious about the recylce, I think I saw Dennis said 2-3 fps somewhere.

Anyway plan to order tomorrow night so any other thoughts appreciated!

It depends Matt obviously on the power settings. If you are shooting 1/4 power then it is almost instant. At 1/2 which I usually use for football there is a slight lag and I will have some black photos until I get the timing down. I do believe the 2x2 is a little faster then the SC so maybe it will.

Matt,
While you CAN get 2-3 fps at reduced power, be very careful about this, as you also CAN burn out your flash head. Seriously.

+1 on the Turbo 2x2 being a top-notch piece of gear.

Thanks Dennis, you taught me very early to learn how to time shots so I very rarley use a burst...however for a few key plays it might be nice to know I have a two shot burst as an Ace in the hole.

Going to pick up the 2x2 tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice and help. Hopefully I will have some images worth posting this weekend.

I would buy old Turbo not the new 2x2s. Look inside the new ones. There is bunch of cells soldered together and they charge so much to replace that battery. Look in the small flash forum as it was discussed there. I will see if I can dig up the link.

Edited:- Here you go.
