I bought my 70-300 refurb'd from Adorama and it is superb! The lens was in Like New condition and took sharp pictures.

I got one too brand new and it was sharp so..... Anyone got samples lol?

some of the canon lens increased over $100. 3 canon lens I am going to buy, canon 50mm 1.4 and canon 85mm 1.8 both increased over $80, canon 200mm 2.8 L lens go up from $589 to $869. I am not buying them now, I am sure the prices may come down, it is like the seasonal.

Perhaps we can lobby this congress for a Cash For Clunkers lens program?

Could trade in some old junk for some nice, shiny lenses with red rings!!!

C'mon guys - if you could, do it in time for Christmas.....

I know - "Help Santa with the recession....."

What a riot! LOL!

Wow. I don't like the increases. However, I have to think that in this market no company will really benefit by raising their prices in the long run. My guess--and it's pure speculation-- is that we'll see an aggressive rebate program begin soon and last through the holiday buying season that will mitigate some of these newer prices.

And I'm damn glad I bought my two primes in the last two months. It was a stretch, but turned out to be a great move.

Am I the only one who buys used?

There are some *steals* out there if you know what you're looking for and how to look.

I have only bought a few of my lenses new. Mostly used or refurbished though. There are a lot of good deals out there for those willing to not have shiny new glass, especially if you are willing to drive/wait for it.

Yen is getting very strong against the US dollar (today around Y95). That may have a little to do with it with respect to US pricing. They are getting killed by their own strong currency. These lenses are all made in Japan.
