Hey steve awesome shots mate! Were these shot recently?

I'm too am very keen to come over. Planning a trip for next year. One week down around Queenstown and the other just travelling and hopefully checking out some places like this.

Have you done the Milford Sound track? What is it like for shooting?

I like the second best. The first is a nice picture, but it looks like a terragen render or something. I'd like to see your best single exposure of that one.

Thanks, Both taken within the last 9 months or so.

Been to Milford Sound a couple of times. Beautiful area with some great photo opportunities. Reflection of Mitre Peak in the water the would be one of the most famous. Definately take one of the boat cruises.
Rains a lot down there, both times i went it poured down most of the time. On the track itself it was quite low lighting so high ISO was in order. Once it cleared it was stunning. I will try and dig up some shots from when I was last there.

Hey Steve,
Travelling to NZ in September for our honeymoon. Spending most of our time on the South Island. We're driving from Christchurch up to the west coast to Franz Josef , Then Queenstown, Milford, Mt. Cook. I'd love to hear some recommendations!
Thanks Stan

Something I wrote a while ago for someone planning the same sort of trip (but in reverse) is here. Most of it will still be relevant, just read backwards 8-)

Also photo 1 of steves is Castle Hill - it's an 60-90 mins out of christchurch between Christchurch and Arthurs Pass (or about 30-40 mins from Arthurs Pass). Punakaiki is about an hour north of where SH73 (CHCH->West Coast) meets SH6 (Main West Cost highway), but in the wrong direction for the glaciers, so it will be a detour. If you decide to go to punakaiki - take the lake brunner road - will take you past lake brunner which can be a nice landscape shot (when it's not raining).

I sure like #1 but wish the burn at the top of the sky was more even as the light is spread evenly across the entire range.
