I got the 1.1 update as soon as it became available on the US servers. It is a great improvement over the 1.0. I have only been playing with it at the kitchen table so far but thought I would share what I found. Not really a review more of a quick overview. Im sure most of us will know what is what, so I will be basically posting screen shots.

First you need to download the server software for the computer from the onone site. It is free. If you have 1.o you need to upgrade the server software as well to 1.1.

The home screen....

Ignore the lack of creativity in the image. The camera is just sitting on the table. And have not touched it since I plugged it in. But you can see all of your basic settings here. And just tap on any you want to change. You have all the WB settings and file choices that are on the camera. The app does not limit you at all. The focus mode and exposure mode need to be set manually on the camera itself. The 178 is space remaning on the card.

Auto Bracket screen.....

The delay is handy. As it says, if useing a flash you can include recycle time to be sure it fires.

It will auto rotate to show a bigger image when you turn the iPhone/touch in its side. All the settings menu also rotates so you dont have to keep twisting it...

You can scroll through the images you have taken by sliding you finger across the image. The same as the native photo gallery. You can also delete images from the app. just press and hold and the menu slides up.

It also now creates a sub folder for copies in its designated folder that light room can grab and move to where ever you have told lightroom to move them to when you auto import. So you can have the laptop running Lightroom and the server so you can see from the iPhone, and someone else on the laptop.

That's about it. Not much, but a ton of stuff at the same time. And Im sure there is a distinct line where you will use it constantly, or never need it.

How is it connected to your camera and what camera were you using?

Yeah, I got it installed too... and I'm really digging it.

I am going to be shooting over a hundred couples in formals in a few nights from now. I plan on setting the camera up, and doing the entire shoot from my iPhone (this will be my first big use of it like this) - I've never thought of it as more than a neat gimmick.

However, with adding the 7 stops auto-bracketing feature... it will be a big boon to HDR use.. gonna have to try it out soon.

The setup has the camera tethered to a laptop by a USB cable. The wifi from the laptop connects to the iphone/touch. Not the most convenient but easy to set up.

Is there a way to use this without a wifi network being active? I'd love to be able to use this as a dlsr remote while outside (not in a building with a wifi) with my netbook!

Very cool idea, but Ijust dont see why if I had my laptop with me there and my camera attached to it, would I need a second attached device (my iphone) to control it? Seems like the control through the laptop would be enough.

Yes, you can hook it up without having a WiFi available... on your laptop, just create an AdHoc zone (meaning your laptop is the wifi signal orginator) and connect your iPhone to that AdHoc zone instead.

I just did this last weekend onsite... worked perfectly fine.

As for the need of having another element involved... yes, if you're just looking to tether, there really is no need for the iphone part in the equation... however, if you want to use your camera in a really funky spot that is not easily attainable... this would allow you to take shots without having to be near the camera.

Also, it's great for in studio shots - to help setup the scene - with liveview, you can see your setup and frame, while you're in it.. beats the hell out of make a change, back to the camera or laptop to see the results, and then back to the scene for another change, etc..

Lastly, it works really well for light painting too.. since you can see the results of your light painting, in your hand, while you doing the actual painting... not after the fact. Huge plus there.

AH! I like the light painting idea!

So are you guys buying the $1.99 app or the $19.99 one? I couldnt easily tell the advantages of the more expensive one when I quickly looked at them earlier.

I got the 19.99 version but I got it for the introductory price of $9.99 when it first came out.

I'd still pay the 20 bucks for it though... I mean, in this business, what is $20? I mean you can't get lens cleaner for less than that.

Very true. I was also just wondering what the difference between the two was since I didnt see it right off the bat. I might not even need/want the added features.

I went ahead and downloaded this last night... It is fantastic.

Very easy to use and very useful. I set my tripod up on my back deck last night, tethered it to my netbook, and pointed it to the stars. I set up an ad-hoc network on the netbook, connected my phone to it, and everything was good to go. I set the intervalometer to take 150 30 second exposures. Worked perfectly. It was chilly outside, so it was nice to be inside kicking it on my couch with my wife and watching the pictures scroll by on my phone. Very cool.

Thanks for bringing this app to my attention!

Ha ha! Very cool! Now if you get the video out cable for the iphone, you could watch them scroll by on your TV!

Ha! I've got a video out cable... perhaps I'll give that a try when my wife isn't trying to watch Grays Anatomy!
