What was the "Big" anouncement that was to be made today all about? Anybody know the details, or have a link?

Ron

September 1 is the official date:

EOS D-SLR
Two macro lens
Couple primes
Possibly a 70-200mm f/2.8L II

I was hoping for a 24-70 f/2.8L IS ;)

Cheers,
John

According to Canonrumors, the next 1D will be announced in 2010. That would put the camera on a 3 year product cycle; which would be the same as the 1Ds and 5D.

I would expect a 7D/60D announcement!

I was kind of joking, but a 2000D or T1 is due anytime to replace the XS/1000D. Rumoured to have the XSi sensor + video (but same crippled raw burst rate and 7 point AF)

I am not 100% sure they will deliver a 50D replacement only 12 months after it was released. Perhaps a new camera at the $1800-2000 price point though.

Maybe 1d4? Winter olympics are coming and a new fast camera would be great ;)

I know it won't happen but it would be nice to see a full frame at the $1999 price point.

I think 1D4 due to the olympics as Misiek stated. Seems logical to have a new flagship out for the premier event for the entire world.

Maybe some special snow seeling ;). Nice would be a setup of lenses for olympics - 500 2.8 IS? :) It would be ultra expensive...
