Here's one that made the front page. Another torrential downpour.

I had to stop my jeep at the police line, run about 150 yards and snap the pic before he got the car out of the puddle it was in. No time for rain gear (for me or the camera) or to switch the lens to the 50D. Everything got pretty wet, but is none the worse for the wear.

whoa that's too much water for a good samaritan. must be a husband :D.

Note, I fell FACE FIRST into a snow bank with my 30D landing lens/lenshood first below me and the body smacking into my ribcage...I think it hurt me more than my 30D

Christ, I can't believe it still works after oddly taking the camera inside and taking shots of it whilst snow melted on it.

I took this one standing in about 3' of water with a strong current rushing at me and my tripod barely fighting the current. My 40D and 10-22 got some spray on it, but didn't bat an eye.

Actually, I think the biggest risk to my camera is me sweating on it  I've gotten it fairly drenched when out in 90 degree weather.

I was sorta in a "Well its boned" thought and decided id snap pics..The snowballs in the lenshood made me laugh..

Then i cleaned it off

My 30D is a robust little **** of a camera..

I should also say a few weeks ago we were having SEVERE thunder/lightning storms so i took my 30D out to try to get some pictures of lightning

One and a half hours in rain that left me soaking from head to toe, shivvering with my hands so numb and my grip covered in so much water i could no longer hold my camera and my 30D + Tamron 28-75 were still 100% functional and fine....

Seriously, I think my 30D is built like a tank :)

The only marks on it are on the battery grip where i had to slide it and my 100-400 off a roof down to my mother when i got stuck on the roof of my shed....and one VERY tiny nick in the finish around the shutter release..

Say whaaaa....?

Ahem, one day i was getting frustrated standing on the ground trying to nail birds in flight because of obstacles and such...so i eyed my shed and i go "...I bet if i was up there i could nail them"

So i grabbed a piece of chainlink fence we had sitting around and leaned it against the edge of my shed, then i proceed to run up it and get onto the roof of my shed...

Accidently knocking the chainlink over...

Well i get on the roof and sit there..but the roof is quite er...Hot..and started to burn me...i also was afraid id have to roll when i jumped off the roof [ok its not THAT high off the ground, but it also occured that i could sprain my ankle or something and tumble] and my 30D would end up seriously injuring me, So i call my mum who was in the house to come out so i can give her my camera...

I did so by grabbing the neck strap and lightly sliding it down the roof shingles to the edge where she grabbed it :)

The roof shingles are a bit abrasive so they put a few scratches in the lens hood of my 100-400 and in the side of my 30D's BG-E2...which are plastic...

As for the nick in the finish, No clue how it got there, but its REALLY small and you can -barely- see it..

I have taken my 30D into multiple snowstorms, Sub zero conditions on more than one occasion and it kept going without a problem or a complaint..its also been through a few rainstorms :)

I ought to go grab it and photograph its current condition :)

haha quite a little story there.

I thought you actually let go of the whole rig and let it go sliding into your mom's hands  .

Did you end up getting any good ones from the roof of your shed?

Actually i did :) it freely slid the last few inches into her hands..

And no no i didnt...my body was getting scorched by the hot roof shingles so i found it hard to concentrate..I couldnt sit down for a few hours after that :)
