Is there more than one Canon 50mm f1.4?

The reason I ask this question is that mine got damaged and I need to replace it under my house insurance but from shopping around the prices vary considerably.

I have seen it priced from £289 up to £359.

Some say USM some don't so I wondered if there is a USM model and a non USM model although I thought they were all USM.

I Know there is only one 50mm f1.4 in production however i don't know if there were any 50mm f1.4 prior to the one now.


Canon 30D & 5D Mark II, 17-40 F4L, 24-70 F2.8L, 50 F1.4, 100mm f2.8, 70-200 F2.8 IS, lensbaby, 580ex, 430ex, Radio Poppers, Bowens explorer 1500, and photoflex strobes

OK thanks. I know there is the cheaper f1.8 but in my search I was specifically looking at f1.4 models.

Obviously if my insurance are paying I want to make sure I get the best one ;-)a
