'83 Camaro Z28 Pro Street 502 Part #1

A few weeks ago, I took some safety shots of Jim's Camaro, just in case some texting dufus runs over it before the beauty shoot.

I'm using two threads on it so I can get all the shots in within the limit. The final shots will be in a thread "UBNXOUS Beast! part #2" as soon as he decides what he wants.

Jim's Pro Street Camaro Z28 is the second car I've shot for him. The other is this sweet AMX.

The motor is a fuel injected 502cid that puts out 600bhp. It has a full-race cam, a 3-speed auto transmission with trans brake & wheel lock. In it's present trim it does 10.7 sec. at 130 mph.

I waited a few weeks for the right sky to go with it.

What's your process on the last one to make the car pop like that?

It's mostly picking a good day & waiting until the light on it looks the best. If you check the EXIF, you'll see what time I shot it for this image.
I added a touch of levels, 0 0.94 255 & put it on a darker conversion of the background, too.
Ignore the top Levels layer. It's just a placeholder for when I make the final adjustments to the print. See "another set with the overall levels at 0 1.13 255", below.

Here it is right out of the RAW converter with no changes. I'm thinking now that it's just a bit too dark after processing, but the 4X6" proof print looks pretty good. I'm making another set with the overall levels at 0 1.13 255 to see how that works. Then I'll make a full size 12X18" print to check for any details that I might have missed.

i'd ditch #7 since you have #6 on top of it... showing more of the dash seems more appealing to me

You're right, but if you don't shoot a different view, you can't use a different view if you need it.
I had space for a 8th shot, so I used it.

Very nice car, especially inside. I'm more impressed by a nice interior in something like this than the horsepower since power just costs money, but planning out a nice interior takes a lot of thinking plus money. Good job capturing all the info as to what he built.

The guy that owned it before Jim was hard core & at the strip every week, so he had a lot of time to get it right.

He's got some pricey parts on that engine.
