It's really hard to tell what kind of lights they have. The first pic is a real lousy product pic. And the product being photgraphy equipment makes the listing an immediate suspect, IMO.

However if the softboxes are good quality and in good condition and the stands are heavy duty stands (the ones in the first pic looks like it) then $750 is a fair bargain, I think.

I just talked with the seller. She didn't know the brand, but said there is 5 lights included, set is about 6 months old.

I think they are strobes, but I'll verify. She said she used this system with a Canon Rebel

Constant lights or studio electronic flash?
Hot lights (tunsten) or fluorescent bulbs (if constant lights)?
What power rating for output (regardless of constant vs. electronic flash)?
What brand, what model?

If you know NONE of this (and the seller is equally uninformed) RUN!

^ +1 to what Wilt says. If all she knows is they work with her Rebel and she can't even identify if there studio FLASH or continuous lighting, than there's no way you should stick your neck out and purchase these.

I have a car for sale. No brand, no model, no year, I don't know how small of an engine, nor if it is electric, gas, or diesel, or pedal powered. I have used it to pull a little red wagon. Exterior shots available only (excellent paint).

Would you buy this?!

Tom, there's a set of Elinchroms on the Milwaukee craigs, too but double the price. No detail on that either, but for the $750 my bet is they are hot lights; especially since there are 5 of them.

The ad did state, "strobe lighting, umbrellas, light stands, auto flash: but what set of studio lights has anyone heard of with 'auto' in the description?!

"extra bulbs?" Really sounds like constant to me.

Could be extra modelling lights, could even be extra flash tubes! But given the fact that it is apparently a low end unit, I doubt it was a working pro who was wise enough to keep spares of both on hand.
