I have a full version of PhotoShop-Elements 6 and a 30 day trial version of Photoshop CS4.

I was playing around with the CS4 program and really loved all the new features they incorporated in the the camera raw 5.4 edition and then thought how wonderful it would be if my lowly PS-E6 program could work with this new ACR5.4 version and to my dismay, the utility could be copied over to where it normally works in PS-E6 but all the cool new features didn't make the trip over and only the original functionality of the 4 series ACR program remained available even though it reports as being ACR5.4 when I use it in PS-E6. :(

I'd really love to use the full functionality of ACR5.4 in PS-E6 but am reluctant to drop all that extra money for that program.

Is there a way to make it work fully or might a less expensive program like light room offer the full functionality of ACR5.4 with all the functionality of how it works in CS4?

Cheers!

As you've observed, the Adobe Camera RAW plug-in is "crippled" in Photoshop Elements as compared to the full range of features available in Photoshop. You can use Lightroom 2.4 which has all the features of ACR 5.4 or ugrade to the full version of Photoshop.

Thanks for that!

Would you know if upgrading to PS-E7 would offer the full functionality as well or do I have to at least move to Light Room or CS4?

Yes, I'm a penny pincher! ;)

Cheers!

No, it wouldn't. If any version of PSE were to have full functionality then there would be less reason to purchase Lightroom or Photoshop.
