Hi John -
I am running short on time here today - so let me be brief.
The duck- ok shot - I would like the duck to be at a little different angle so the back side wasn't facing me -- but sometimes ducks do not take orders do they - ok - the shoot through the weeks is ok -- not great - but something.
the bridge - seems a bit flat - needs a little post work - definitely needs a little more umph and something more to emphasize the architecture and maybe add a bit to it.

Hey Coppa,
Ok - not much time for me today - I gotta run in a min -- so I will be brief. I typically do not like selective color -- but for this first shot it really works -- it is pretty good - captures emotion - which I love and details of the scene - good work -
The second shot - ok - but for me lacking a little because of the dark shadows on the face - I would like to see it lit a tad bit more - but decent - heading in the right direction but not quite there --- again this is my simple opinion. sometimes we get the perfect shot at the perfect moment and other times we are just a hair off --- I think this is a hair off.
Thanks for sharing!

I was wondering if dodge and burn would do it -- I tried - but then had to copy the sign layer - modify it a bit - do several layers of editing on it - and here is what I ended up with:

Thanks! I think that I just didn't write it very clearly in the first place xD

Take a shot at this, I think its better.... Not fully converted to black and white but desaturated a bit

This one is pretty good.... maybe a tad too dark - and could use a little more editing to make it pop and more edgy.... I like what you are going for here though.. Thanks for sharing.

Lonely -
Thanks for sharing -- I understand what you are going for in this shot. I love the color and concept but not totally sure it is unique enough to be a wall hanger (print that would make a nice wall piece) -- but then again it might be -- what about cropping the top a little so the small branch on the left is not showing - maybe crop through the center of the leaf on the top left? dunno...might might the big bold leaf stand out more..... just thinking out loud here.
The shot has potential - but I personally am pushing myself to create or find things that create unique images or perspectives - now this is definitely getting harder because everyone has a camera etc -- but I think for those that excel and create their own way of shooting - know the rules and then break them - there is tons of room to create images that are stellar -
Thanks for sharing and keep pushing yourself and the limits.

Jubu..... thanks for sharing.
The first is good....but I think it might have more oomph if you shot it from a little lower angle. It looks like it is shot from just standing ---maybe if you shot it from a lower perspective it might have more pizzaz.
The second is a unique perspective but I think maybe a little dodge and burning work would make it a little more dramatic -- not a ton but a little. I look at this shot as if I took it for a news client....and my news clients want an image that stands on its own....well I have to make it stand on its own because I truly want them to come back to me and give me more work. Think of photojournalistic work as photos that are uniquely compelling and those you cannot live without.....if we all do this than news organizations will stop giving point and shoots to their reporters and hire us more often.....ok I will get off my soap box and stop ranting.
Thanks!

Anyone want to throw me a little critique?
Feel free to be as brutal as you would like..... remember that there is no wrong answer for this. Everyone sees things with different perspective. This is a shot I took this am - I walked my dog and wanted to get the sunrise coming through the trees with frost on the ground. I shot it in RAW - uploaded to Aperture then edited in Aperture with Nik color efx pro.
Where have at it:

Thanks for the critique! With regards to the second photo, could you go a bit into detail about *how* you would dodge/burn this photo? Thanks again.

Great John - yep the Nik editing made it pretty darn green. Thanks!

Well, ive come to enjoy fridays around here... here is one, I was outside goofing around and I hadnt expected much to come of this... but after I played around in LR a little bit I kinda like it. But I know its missing something, If I could figure out how to make this better I would like to reshoot it.

Hi John,
I like the texture and feel to this one - maybe a little too much tilt but it kind of works - I would like to se a little more of the chair but think there is potential here.
I think a little more "drama" with the textures might add something to this - here is my quick edit-- I simply added brightness and contrast - which makes it a little more dramatic. Here is my quick edit:
