These shots were taken on the Mananga 4x4 Trail near Satara Camp in Kruger National Park. We found a lone Lioness with three cubs and sat watching for an all too short while. It was calm until we were eventually joined by a couple of other vehicles. This proved to be too much for her and she slowly walked off into the bush followed by the cubs. In all we probably saw around 25 Lions over the period we were in Kruger.

Absolutely stunning set and back story bw!

I see the lens was (at) 300mm, just how far away were you and indeed are these full frame?

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Great shots Dave. It appears much drier that it was in March. Looks like you had better luck seeing game than we did.

It's good to be home again. I really enjoyed the variety of areas we went to, but I think the others would have preferred to have stayed in Kruger.

It was dry for sure which makes things easier of course. Game was fairly prolific in Kruger even tho' we had a couple of less successful days there too.

These are great. I so wish we had seen lions with cubs on the two first trips. Oh well I have put my hopes up for the next time I go.

Great shots, and guess what, I'v shot pictures of the same three cubs on the 13th of august. One of them has a mark on the left front leg, the same as on my pictures. As soon as I'm back I'll post the pictures!

Hey, hey, hey, the way to go Dave. It does get the adrenalin going when you find something special and there are no other vehicles to mess it up for you. Nice find. I trust that the rest of your trip was up to expectation.
