Took this a couple of weeks ago. He was at 22,000ft and complaining about the bumpy ride! We are just South of Nashville, TN. He is headed SW, toward Texas. Took a whole series of shots! this is one of the better ones. The poor optical quality of the windows makes Air to Air shots come out badly.

Taken with DRebel w/ 135mm Nikkor Q pre-ai, f8 @ 1/800, mounted via EF adapter.

Awesome Catch!

That is really close. I saw AF1 climbing out of Tampa once, but he was just a spec.

quick AF-1 one story. For the pilots on here I have TSA/FAA waiver that allows me to fly in the FRZ. I was on downwind for potomac airfield 1-2nm south of andrews. I looked over my shoulder and there was 28000 of my left wing heading for andrews. I was never so nervous flying.

Yeah it was close. All made possible by the new RVSM (reduced vertical seperation of aircraft). So I must have the altitude off (RVSM begins at fl290). I think I was cleared to 22,000 after I was clear of the traffic. Oh well. Basically he was 1,000ft below and as best I could judge 2-3000 ft off the left side. With a closure rate of around 1,000 MPH!

I once saw Air Force One fly over Edmonton, Alberta being escorted by two f-16 fighter jets, but it sure didn't look like that! It was on its way from I think Russia to Washington state I think.

Wow Chris talk about a rare shot for the average civilian not in a F-16 fighter jet!Pretty awesome shot, please post a couple more if you have a chance, I'd love to see a couple more if you got some.

isn't the name AF-1 only used to signify a plane with the president on it?>

Air Force Two, Marine Two, etc. is the designation used by craft transporting the Vice President. When Clinton was in office, Monica used Marine Three to get to Camp David ;)

Actually i think it was Marine 1/2 because she was under the president.. thus the number gets smaller ;)

Not so bad. I can see the pilot waving to you.

cool shot. I also am surprising that it would fly so close to other aircraft.
