I agree. I rarely use my 50mm 1.8. Just not my type of photography. know the 70-200 L (never mind the speed) is a great lens. I probably should have started there. I'm looking forward to posts when yours comes in.

Man's gotta eat. Good choice. I wish my first non-kit lens had been the 70-200. But must stop going into threads with your chicken - I spend hours watching that darn chicken. He's kind of hypnotic :)

Just kidding, congrats on getting the 70-200L ... I think that + a 1.4 TC will be my next purchase.

Congrats on the new lens!

I've found that since I prefer a zoom to a prime for most things, I would get the Tamron first, but you have to decide what you like best and what fits your shooting style!

One thing I like about the Tamron is its ability to focus closely, about 9"... makes filling the screen with flowers and smaller things much easier!

Wish I could go too......... sounds like a lot of fun. I'm itching to take my grandson but my son/daughter-in-law aren't ready for me to take him.:( Maybe I'll approach them again in a few months.
