My new 28-75 is showing up today but I just noticed it is Tamron Autofocus 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) version. I know there is also the non-Aspherical version as well. Is there a big difference between these two - have I ordered the wrong one? On Fred Miranda's site, there is a big difference in the ratings - both do well but the "non" version is rated higher.

thanks!

Just a mistake by someone ,both threads are talking about the same lens i'm sure.
Notice the pic of the lens on the 'non' apsh version has aspherical written on it...

When does B&H get this in stock? Like 2 weeks ago it said "Back ordered" then one day it switched to "Out of Stock" then like a week ago it said "Back ordered" then today it switched to "Out of stock"

Are they even getting them in or are people buying them at the store before they even put them online?

It just showed up.... while my wife was out... talk about living good. Anyway - put it on the camera and it seems to be reasonably solid. It's pooring now so I can go shoot yet. But one noticable thing is the AF is noticably louder and somewhat slower then Sigma HSM. Not a big deal for what I am going to use if for... but it is noticable.

Croasdail do some wide open shots to make sure everything is tip top. Ya the AF speed is probably the biggest weakness.........noise has never been an issue for me, but the AF speed gets in the way if you are shooting moving subjects or shooting low contrast. Other then that, the AF is pretty accurate.
