You're going to love it. Amazing lens. I find it to be more niche than the 85L, but dayum it rocks.

While I understand your opinion, the reason behind putting it in the middle of the image is to stop people from being able to crop out the watermark. I use one in the middle and I lighten the opacity to 30 percent so hopefully it doesn't take over the image at all, but you can still see it. I used to use a watermark towards the bottom of my images and too many times, my clients would crop it out and do whatever with the image. I def think it looks better to have it at the bottom, but it's either that or potentially getting ripped off by clients. I'm going to go with the watermark in the middle personally.

I was actually responding to gonzo referring to new shooters placing a huge white watermark across a mundane, poorly-exposed image that says ©JIMS KICK ASS PHOTOS 2010.

But yes, your usage is legitimate, and your images deserve to be protected, especially from clients who'd rather crop the watermark out than pay you for your work. That said, I don't think I've ever noticed a watermark on any of your images. (and I love your work. I don't comment enough on people's work here, because my own rarely makes me feel like I even belong, but do know that I have pretty much loved everything you've posted in this thread. :) ).

But, but...it isn't May yet! (or was it March?).

Congrats. I'm pretty sure you're going to love it. It's in a class of its own, unless you can afford the 85L. Just don't go looking for shots from the Contax Planar T* 100/2.

Good luck getting prom #2. :)

Hay gays. Got invited by a large student organisation at USYD (University of Sydney) to be their photographer for the year. Thankfully I finished my degree last year, so I've got some free time these days. Anyway, first task: Enrolment Week. All taken with the 85/1.8.
