I played with a shot from this fall to enter into the "Vintage" competition today in this thread:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=816844

I don't usually do B&W/Monochrome stuff, so it was fun playing with all the Lightroom controls to get things OK, although like I said, it's not typical for me and so could probably use a lot of improvement:

After looking at some of your pics, I have to say that ya'll are doing a great job in convincing me that I don't need to spend the extra money on the 5dII when I get ready to upgrade my 40D to FF. If all goes well, I hope my upgrade will take place towards the end of this summer. :D

Heather :)

5D classic + 135L = less money spent. :)

I gotta admit for some reason I hate rounded photo edges but.. They look awesome for your photos, you pull them off well. :)

I agree, I'm not usually crazy about "faking" round-edged images, but it seems to work well in concert with Joanie's post work. The only thing slightly off-putting, is that the images are way too sharp to be the old rounded-edge images I have in my drawer. :P

Looks like I'm getting a 5D classic tomorrow morning. Now I just need to find someone to trade my 10-22mm for a 17-40L :D

Thanks. Hope you don't mind, I had a 2 minute go at your photo in PS3. Cranked up contrast and brightness, auto curves and auto levels.

Allen,

I'm thinking those look soft (at least compared to your normal stuff). Is it your photo host?
