thanks. Those are older shots when I first got that lens and first got into photography. The DANGER tape is just a to add to the theme of this guy's car for the carshow. So basically just a prop. Cause his car was named DOA. DROPPED ON AIR or DANGER ON ARRIVAL

Great Images Jay. You have a seriously good eye. and the lighting is beautiful.

Thanks Very Much...

Jay I love this image. I find I just keep searching the room like I am looking for something. I agree its a bit dark on my monitir but I am at work (Shh!) so my monitor is not calibrated.
One thing is it my eye or is it tilted just a bit to the right ? Still Love it.

It probably is a tad dark. I only got down to the fifth mask for the absolute brightest highlights. I think I need to open up the third and fourth layers more.

I'll double check the level. I squared it up to the wooden railing accross the front of the generator but that may not actually be level relative to the actual building.

My wife was quite clear on what she wanted :) That was a long time ago, but it stuck, boy did it stick.

how did you do it, did you get an engagement ring...then build on it for the wedding ring...or just two seperate ones?

That was a very cool series, Jay -- one of these days I'll have to go find a ghost town, haven't been to one since I was a kid.

I'd agree that that last one can use some brightening in the shadows. It's hard to really know what's the "right" blend on a shot like that.

I don't think though that the straightening is off. I think it's just wide angle distortion -- if you look at each side you'll see the windows leaning in opposite directions. Did you use a 24-70 for this? Such are the perils of wide angle lenses!

Yeah, biggish engagement ring, with a matching band that was added at the wedding. She later had them fused togther as a set.

Thanks Tony...

First time I've tried a blend of more than two frames so it's a work in progress. It was, in fact, shot with the 24-70 @ 24mm. I probably should have shot it as a three panel pano, stitched each exposure set and then blended them.

My head hurts now and I'm going to go lay down for a while...

So Jay this is an HDR image ? not sure I am understanding your blending comments. Can you give a dumb schmuck more info.
Thanks

I bracketed five different exposures (-2 -1 0 +1 +2) and then stacked them in CS4 with each on a different layer (darkest on top .. lightest on the bottom.)

You apply a mask over the entire image on each layer and selectively remove the masking on each. ("Painting" with Black removes mask while using white puts masking back. Varying levels between black and white allow for subtle adjustments in how much mask is removed. Changing the opacity of your brush does it too but if you go back over an area, the removal is cumulative.)

The parts you want to be the absolute brightest get erased on every layer (eventually being revealed on the very bottom image .. the +2 exposure) while the stuff you want to stay the darkest gets left alone all the way down the stack (and is still visible from the -2 exposure.)

As it exsists now, I've only removed all the masking from the brightest specular highlights but I think I need to go back and do more mask removal earlier in the stack so the overall apparent illumination is higher.
