Same here man.....I've been brewed in POTN..there are some people that i will be grateful forever (SkipD, TMR...etc etc)
When I came across this site (4 yrs ago) I didn't know Shi..t about lighting and asking around was they way to learn.
I don't take offense ...at this point I know the difference between a constructive and sour milk; take the good leave the bad.
Of course I like critiques....for instance yesterday i was put in my place by Ford NY.... lol they woop my butt when they reviewed my book...I'm still sore.....
ditto. robert (tmr) curtis, tim, skip and a bunch on the others that hang out in the lighting forum,,,,,,,class acts all of them. and a wealth of information. when i see thier posts,,its must view information for me. POTN is the best as far as im concerned. when i decided to go full time in early 2008, i joined my local professional photography associations. i wanted my business to be as professional as i could get it. was looking to go work for free with some of the master photogs in our state, not to steal from them or thier cliental, but rather, to learn and see how they did things and to make myself a better photographer. i called 15-20 master certified photogs and explained what and why i was doing with my business and where i wanted to be as a photographer. they could give a rats arse and wouldnt give me the time of day. not one would help out and all viewed me as a threat. i almost gave up. but then a friend introduced me to POTN and i started getting involved and asking questions. now i feel comfortable, my thirst to learn is even greater and i love the compliments im getting from my clients. business is picking up and im in still in the cant get enough of this mode. If is wasnt for pton and the guys around here, im not so sure i would be where im at right now. hoping to hit 20 weddings this year and im really putting in the time for the portraiture. I feel like ive got outdoors down and im comfortable outside. inside studio work is what i want to be able to master. i love the challenge. its actually fun to have a job thats not a job. i now know what people mean when they say that. after 28 yrs as a hobbiest and part time photographer, and working full time in the automotive industry and law enforcement,,,,this is a joy. especially POTN
