haha, what a coincidence it's that lens!..I actually got my AB's in today and didn't have much to shoot, so I thought threw that in front of the bee. I love the lens so much, but I was actually thinking about going to the 17-40 and 85 1.8 combo instead of it. I'm sure it won't happen for a little while though.

I know answers might be biased ...but IQ/Image quality wise which is better 5D Mark 1 or the new Canon 550D/T2i. A guy in one of the other threads owns a 5D mark II he made a comparison and said at iso 100 to 400 you will not be able to tell the difference in image quality. He previously owned a 5d Mark 1 also and he believes the 550d matches or even beats a 5D mark 1.
I am only writing this as I am tossed between getting a 5d Mark 1 or a 550d body which both are around the same price! $1200-1400. No matter which camera I get, I plan to get a 5DII a year later when it might be more affordable. Anyone here owns a 5D mark 1..tested a 550/t2i and made a comparison in image?

Here is a link to his Blog review of the 550d/t2i:

I keep telling myself that I'm lucky to still have my job all the time. It's getting harder and harder to not just say "F It" though and quit and just do photography full time. Who the hell says that you have to actually feed your kids?

its not easy. there are a lot of people trying to do it because they lost thier jobs. crazy scary out there right now. my son who has a masters in computer programming and systems has been out of work for 2 yrs. cant find work. every place he goes hes more qualified than the guy thats interviewing him. he even tried to work at an apple store selling computers and they didnt hire him. really sad whats going on in this country right now. i think were in for massive cvil unrest if they dont get the job situation fixed soon.

Trent is a great guy, and a fantastic photographer. The way he uses light and poses his models...let's just say he has a ridiculous amount of talent. Some of his work is just levels above what I usually see.

I was curious about his claim as well, as he's pretty much a die-hard FF shooter (owning at least two 5DIIs). He does mention "up to a certain print size", but I'm not sure I'd agree. Like I said though, as good as he is, I tend to trust his word, and he did say he was surprised by the quality of the 550D.

I'll never give up FF though, in part due to shallower DoF that allows you to isolate subjects from busy, distracting backgrounds.
