Hows the AF on the sigmalux?

When I got mine (brand new), it was horrible. All over the place. I couldn't get a sharp shot out of it to save my life. Stopped down it was great, but anywhere close to wide open it was a total pig.

I sent it to Arizona (C.R.I.S. repair facility) for calibration. It took a full four weeks to come back, but now it's very accurate. I wish they could ship them that way, but it seems at least 50% of the copies have some AF issues.

For me, it was worth it. Fantastic lens.

Quiet like the 17-40 and pretty fast AF. I haven't exactly taken many sports pictures, but its pretty quick i think..

What about in low light though....Would it be seeking constantly or somewhat quick.
I might want to sell my 85mm f/1.8 because I don't use it at all.

Well I wouldn't be able to replicate your low light shots at breaking competitions, connor ;)

I dont know whats low light to you, but when i think about low light i think about enough light to get like 1/40s shutterspeeds or shorter, and then its just fine i think.

Agreed. It's definitely not a lens that hunts, IME, and it's very quick in One Shot in very low light -- think ISO1600 1/50th.

I'm also thinking about picking up a sigmalux. It was definitely going to be my next lens, but now there is a local guy selling a 17-40 for a pretty good price, and there is a canon rebate on the 15mm fe. Too bad I can't just get them all. Lol.

Ingardj, I just checked out your flickr. Very nice work. Are a lot of those flower shots with the sigma?

Thought I entered the wrong post....LOL
(The Sigmalux focuses fine in low light, now I would think the body you use would have a bigger effect than the lens, but I'm no expert....someone correct me)
So, traded my 5Dmk2 for a 1Dmk3, which means I'm gonna sell my 40D soon and grab another 5Dc. Anyone go from the 5Dmk2 back down to the 5Dc? Would love to hear your thoughts....

I have both...when I chimp I can't stand the 5D's LCD lol. Every shot looks OOF, and it has the yellowish color issue. I also like the 5DII's colors more for some reason. But the 5D is still a great camera.

They are shot with a Sigma :P

These are 50mm:

f1.4: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ingardj/3893959210/ (external link)
f1.6: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ingardj/3796931213/ (external link)
f2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ingardj/3709792311/ (external link)

Most are with sigma 150mm, since it focuses alot closer. I know i will use the 50mm more this year. Cant wait for the summer! Only starting taking pics last year..

I bought the 17-40 this Christmas. Its nice, but not really that amazing :/ The difference in build between "L"-lens and "EX"-lens isnt much different..

I'll trade you my 5D for your 1DIII. Mine still has lots of good shots in it. :)

The 1D3 likes the 24-70, but that's off-topic:).
