580ex II came in today. Already had the cactus v4's! going wednesday to pick up 2 light stands for $15 and then 2 vivitar 285hvs for $100. Once I get all of it in and get some shots in to learn it I'll start posting them in here.

Nice! I look forward to seeing some shots. I need to get a couple umbrellas, and possibily another flash, so I can start to do some ocf stuff.

The conversion is okay if thats what you are after. The vignette, or selective darkening is a bit too obvious though.

On my un-calibrated work monitor there seems to be a purple hue to the bottom right of his glove which keeps catching my eye. Otherwise I like the shot.

It does have that look as if it was on newsprint. My eye keeps getting drawn to the brightish spot in the crowd to the right of him in the photo. Maybe its just me.

I am hopefully picking up a 5D tomorrow. yay!

man i wish these 5d's could do this. could you imagine what could be accomplished with a fast full frame . shot these with my 7D. The IQ on it is so close to a 5d classic its scary

Thanks, Mike, for taking the time to show us what the 7D is capable of. I suppose the Canon 1d owners have an opinion on how much better in many ways their cameras perform, also. I just limp along with my 5D and turn to this site for tips and info on the 5D but from time to time it is interesting to visit in a way the 7D site (I assume there is one). Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Joe
