Both the car shot and the dirt shots are awesome, did you get dirty while shooting? :D

Loving the B-17!

Sweet Jay,

I was up at Thunder Over Michigan a few years back when they had 8 flying B-17s I think they were the only 8 that were actually flying at the time.

Great shot.

Jay, you must have been standing right in the way! Nice shot. That guy in the front doesn't look like he has much room to move.

My Thanks To All...

The gentleman in the nose is actually the reason I (and about 10 other aviation shooters) were there. He's one of the founding members of another forum where I hang out and he's also a CAF member who had been out with the B-17 on a week-long tour of various airports in California.

He had the distinct pleasure of riding all the way home from Bakersfield, CA in the nose!

A shot of today's sunset. Sky was very nice. Manual blending of three exposures.

One from the San Diego Air and Space Museum. Shot through glass so there's a weird reflection on the left.

That is quite interesting. The ones I saw today all seemed to measure over an inch of body length, not much more than that. Including the legs they are pretty large.
Hope you can get a good shot of your local variety, looking forward to seeing it.
Joe

Ok. This was the biggest one I could find. I didn't look too hard. I'm guessing hes about the size of an open hand, finger tip to palm. The body is probably 2''.

first, the full version. this is at 200mm, and I'm standing probably 15' underneath it.

these were real quick shots, obviously, and I didn't spend much time on them, simply because I couldn't stand looking at them for too long. Great, now there are imaginary spiders everywhere.

That is amazing, xcon85, a world away and they obviously the same spider.
The markings, as you said, are slightly different, especially the body color, but, the banding of the legs, the shape, real "cousins" that's for sure.
Thanks for going to all that trouble. I will have to show this to a friend who is well versed with the little rascals. I don't know if she has seen the subset you have photogdraphed.

I actually did a wiki search on the species, and it seems they inhabit a wide area of the world, mostly tropical and sub tropical climates. Pretty neat.

It was no trouble at all, there are literally millions of them swarming Korea at this time of year. This is the biggest of the 15 or so that take up residence in the outside stairwell of my building. Somewhat disturbing actually...

Thanks, xcon85,

It you get too close they do bite, supposedly a little less painful than a bee sting. But, they do their thing, and, I am a devout coward when it comes to aggravating spiders, mean dogs, and 2 year old children.

Joe

Beautiful shots, and a sound philosophy!:D
