Hi all! I finally did another test with the Singh Ray Gold-N-Blue this morning and I didn't forget the filter this time! :) I did all the proper adjustments in LR2 with the white balance and tint as per Singh Ray's recommendation and it turned out ok I think. The sun didn't rise yet and I think the filter sort of mixed with the warm tones from the sky. You can see the effect clearly in the sky and the water.

Filters used:
Singh Ray Gold-N-Blue
Singh Ray 3 stop Reverse GND

I wasn't going for anything fancy here and I don't consider this one of my greatest. I was just testing. :) I know there's some noise in the upper right corner but, I can easily fix that. I kind of did a rush job but, you get the idea. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks! :)

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing. Since the filter is fitted for 77mm, I used adhesive putty and stuck it on my 16-35 II. Then I dialed in for the gold effect and of course it did not vignette here.

Very nice. I would be a little hesitant to place adhesive putty on an expensive filter like that.

Thanks! The adhesive putty isn't as bad as you think. After I was done using the adhesive putty, it was real easy taking it off. No residue left over whatsoever.

I have this filter and personally ... I don't think it's necessary ... on the occasion where I want to boost blue or gold in an image I find that I can get all that in PP.

@ Julian: Love This!

@ jetcode: The nice thing about doing it with a filter Vs just boosting things in post is you'll never have to worry about creating chroma noise.

I know what ya mean. I find the filter to be fun and I will find the right time to use it. Even though you can get the same results in PP, I would like to get it right in camera and then adjust.

Thanks Jay. I'm gonna try some waterfall shots with this filter and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your input.

I find that I shoot for color and B/W at the same time so I tend to like more neutral images that can be expanded in PP. I have seen some drop dead gorgeous images produced with this filter on Velvia when it used to be distributed as a Cokin product.

Thanks for chiming in jetcode. I've seen some nice photos taken with this filter. I haven't succeeded cuz' I'm still learning how to use this filter correctly. Thanks! :)

Great image! I can't wait to try out mine, I've been waiting for a good sunrise. You and me both have the same filters :D

It's a fun filter. I think it's nice to try something different. :) Thanks!
