on the 60D and would love to get

-- weather seal.
-- 14MP
-- the AF of 7D
-- bigger buffer for RAW 32 RAW (8fps x 4 )
-- firewire800
-- builtin wireless and flash controller.

It most certainly does not.

The gap that would be created by the 7D taking over the XXD line would be too much for Canon. They wouldn't fill a gap by creating another one.

7d means the end of the xxD series?

I don't think.
Just look at the initial price.

I think the canon 7d aims to be the competitor of the nikon d300.

It has been said before, and we can say it again: There is still space for a 60D.

A camera which would be the conventional evolution from the 50D. The 7D is more towards revolution.

People seem to think that the 60D is going to be a 7D Jr.
Its not.
Its going to be the 50D v2.

The 60D will have the same sensor as the 50D (with improved noise to signal ratio), have the same AF system, probably be digic5, and have integrated flash control. Video could be on the list, but I wouldn't expect anything better than the T1i.

The XXD series is no longer in contention with d300's; its sole purpose is to be better than the d90 (or whatever nikon offers in that range).

I think the same.

i would love a 60D with better high iso than 50D, ~14mp, built in flash controller, video of the t1i, with same grip as 40D or 50D. it would be perfect.

Simply impossible for canon to stop the race for megapixels.
See the review of the Canon 50d (15 megapixel) from dpreview (external link) (noted for be always favoreable for nikon and canon):

It appears that Canon has reached the limit of what is sensible, in terms of megapixels on an APS-C sensor. At a pixel density of 4.5 MP/cm² (40D: 3.1 MP/cm², 1Ds MkIII: 2.4 MP/cm²) the lens becomes the limiting factor. Even the sharpest primes at optimal apertures cannot (at least away from the center of the frame) satisfy the 15.1 megapixel sensors hunger for resolution. Considering the disadvantages that come with higher pixel densities such as diffraction issues, increased sensitivity towards camera shake, reduced dynamic range, reduced high ISO performance and the need to store, move and process larger amounts of data, one could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that at this point the megapixel race should probably stop. One consequence of this is that the 50% increase in pixel count over the 40D results in only a marginal amount of extra detail.

And the new model (7d) has 18 megapixel. Funny.

Also see this comparation (external link) about how many detail the canon 50d lost even at low ISO.

Too megapixel.
