What's a good, portable softbox solution for a photog working alone?

Hi,

I'm trying to decide between portable softboxes and umbrellas. I normally shoot bikes but recently have started to do weddings and engagements and now need to work with lighting. Sometimes, I have another shooter with me, but sometimes, I'm alone. I have two flashguns and would like to get something to soften the light and I am wondering what would be a good solution for my needs. Shooting alone, I'm concerned with being bogged down with too much equipment, and other potential problems like needing someone to hold the umbrella steady when its windy. Is there something I can get that will just allow me to slap it onto my flashgun quick and easy and then mount to my tripod?

I have been looking around on the net but would also like to hear from people who have experience with the equipment and can lay down some pros and cons.

Thanks in advance.
Nik.

There's a big thread on portable soft boxes somewhere. I use this one (external link), held by my assistant.

Thanks for the link Tim. I'm looking around for the thread. I'm hoping its something similar to the "show me your camera bag" thread so that I can have a good idea of my options.

Nik.

Here it is. Knowing that I recommended the Morris Soft Box (external link) I just searched for threads that have a post by me in the lighting forum with the word Morris in the post.

Try this one I bought one from this guy at this price I am happy with it. Probably not as well built as some of the more expensive versions but I like it.

Thanks jgettis.

After browsing around for a bit, I found this link to Scott Kelby's blog articles on a portable lighting system. I think it'll do the job for me. Just thought I'd share it here in case anyone else is in the same boat as me.
