Anybody got an opinion on this one? The fact that it's very cheap is scarey, but all I want is something temporary to fill the gap between the kit kens and my 70-300 APO until my pockets get heavier. If it's no worse than the kit lens, that will be fine.

Couldn't find it at http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/index.html (external link) .

How cheap exactly is 'very cheap' ?
There are very good lenses in that focal range, e.g. in this comparison (external link).

And why would you want to fill a 15 mm gap, if I understand you correctly ???
If in doubt, get the 70$ 50/1.8 instead ... not in the 'gap' but a lot faster then your other lenses and tack sharp at f/2.8 (as sharp as kit lens at f/8 )

And welcome to the forum :D

Best regards,
Andy

Thanks Andy, the Sigma is $119 at B&H. I am considering the 50 also.
