I really enjoyed the profusion of birds on this years safari. More often than not it was a struggle to MF through some very dense bush and most birds you see are very tiny too, so not easy to get the variety or sharpness I'd have liked. This is just a selection of some of those I managed to get a decent lock on.

Nice set of shots #3 is a very pretty bird I'd hang that on my wall.

Excellent series Dave. I am partial to the little birds and this is a great variety I have never seen.

Tres bien.

They're quite different from the birds that I see on the east coast of North America.

Nice series Dave. I recognize the Lilac breasted Roller, the bee eater and. possibly, a jacana of some sort but could you please ID the species that are here?

Thanks,

Stephen

Beautiful shots Dave! I agree that #3 is just spectacular. I love the color and this would easily be a wall hanger!

2. Long-crested Eagle

No corrections necessary although I did get a second opinion on the Black Flycatcher.

I have never personally spotted a long crested eagle in the wild, well done on getting that one. I have cropped your picture into a portrait orientation and in my opinion, it makes the eagle stand out by bringing prominence to the bird itself.

Yeah, very similar to the Square-tailed Drongo the Flycatcher. I'm still not certain on the ID myself. The Eagle I spotted in Hluwe near Hilltop Camp. Doesn't look quite so butch as in some of the books but the legs and crest very distinctive of course. On the orientation I do like to show environment plus the image itself is quite a large crop already given the distance, even at 500mm, but it's a personal preference.
