On the POTN 'great African photo safari' this year we saw more and greater variety of wildlife than the previous two combined and we'd even cracked the famous 'Big Five' by the end of the second day in Kruger National Park! Over the 3 weeks we saw 25+ Lion, Elephant and Rhino as well as numerous Buffalo. However, as always, the Leopard remained elusive with only a single distant sighting.

Gotta love those rhinos!;)

They stood there staring for quite a while then the second one, with the long horn, suddenly wheeled right around and ran off, followed by the others.

He / She may have been illusive but certainly spectacular.

In my two years living in SA and getting out as often as possible I still never got to see one :-(

Great images, but I guess that is what we have come to expect ;-)a

Neil, same here. I only saw my first wild Leopard in 2007. it's quite something.

Gautam, here's the next shot in the series.

Excellent shots and I do like the 3 elephants but something about the lion just begs to be framed and mounted. To me it is the quintessential picture of Africa...that is having never been there except on Saturday mornings with Tarzan. Man, I think I just dated myself!
