Cropping Tool issue??

I am having an issue that I can't seem to correct.
When I open the crop tool in DPP,and try to crop an image ,the crop tool opens,but does not allow me too crop.

This started after i installed Lightroom's trial version on my computer.

I've un-installed ,then reinstalled DPP but the problem persists
I am running version 3.6.1...on a windows xp machine with 3gb's of ram

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I can't help much other then to say that it works fine by me with the same outfit: Vs. 3.6.1, XP, LR installed.
