I"m torn right now on weather to get better editing software or not I seldom use it much unless I want to play , which happens alot for me :) I agree about in camera being important and yet think the most important part is to enjoy ones own creativity.

If you enjoy playing with edits, by all means get the tools you need to have fun.

and fyi, it's hard to process with a depressed pup. Kona is SO sad that Dan left with Hale and without him.

Send him over here, I am sure the two Aussie's in my back yard will keep him occupied. Other than the odd nap break, they are going at it non-stop, all day long.

Blurb is going to re-print my book. They asked me to upload B&W's as png's and to lighten the photos that printed too dark but they aren't going to charge me to re-print since there were obvious printer flaws.

Good on them, the promotion they get out of doing the right thing definitely outweighs the cost of reprinting for them.

Good, let us know how it turns out.The POTN books and everything else I have seen from them looked great. I guess you got a bad run. It is good they recognize it and are backing their product.

I think I just found what has to be the most extreme pixel peeping example so far...

Does this mean we can we just close the "Measurbator Of The Year" contest now?

It's actually a pretty decent discussion and it affects a bunch of cameras. Hit me really bad last year when I was taking twilight pics of the sandhill cranes and you don't have to pixel peep to see it. Took a lot of photoshopping to get it out of there.

I've never been one for Ren faires... They strike me as more fantasy than authentic for the period. That's why I like the Civil War reenactments. The people participating in thos are sticklers for reality, right down to the uniforms and weapons.

If the Ren Faire people want to do authentic, then they would have to be clad in ragged homespun, no shoes or make-up and they would have to have not bathed for several weeks...

This may be why Ren Faires don't adveritise, here any way, as "reinactment". From their web site: Bristol Renaissance Faire is a outdoor Renaissance and fantasy themed theatrical experience on the Illinois / Wisconsin border.

Getting back to work, I needed a break it is so maddening today.

I think that, for most non-photographers, this is the prime reason they take photographs. They don't mind if it's not a wall hanging piece of art, it's a memory aid for them.

Yup... That's it. A coworker of mine has a framed family shot, proudly displayed on her desk. Every time I see it, I cringe. Even from a distance, it looks so pixellated, it really does look bad. I mean real bad... But she felt it was special enough to frame.

oh man, I HATE it when that happens. I post a few photos from a wedding and recently (it doesn't seem to matter which shoot, whether it was Dan, or Little or Cat who shot with me) people say "all are nice but I LOVE this one..." and it isn't mine :lol:

the hard part is that I have to totally remake the book to do it the way they want.

I have two photos in my office that even I cringe when I look at them. They were taken with my very first digital Nikon at a whopping 1mp. But both pics have a lot of meaning to me so I like pooking at them even though they are total carp.
